Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Police report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then found many other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police say initial examinations indicate the substance was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important representative said the incident rendered him without words and had to be solved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine victims by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
